Action is really important but what if you could speed up the process and achieve your goals faster than you thought possible. Would that interest you?
Hi and welcome back to our Goal setting series. Today I’d like to talk about deadlines on your short term goals. We should have 1, 5 and 10 year goals but the issue is that a year can be a long time and we all have a tendency to put things off if we don’t have a deadline that is looming.
So I heard Dave Ramsey talk about what he tells new recruits to his EntreLeadership company
Take the amount of activity you could do over a 2 year period and do it in 90 days and your business will explode. Dave Ramsey
What would happen to your life if you took one goal and spent the time and energy to move that goal forward by 2 years in 90 days? Wouldn’t that make it exciting? Could you do it?
Have you read the book “The 12 Week Year, get more done in 12 weeks than others do in 12 months” by Brain Morgan and Michael Lennington? They make the claim that the majority of sales happen in the 12 weeks before year end of the company. The real question is why. Well it seems that we all like to procrastinate until the last possible moment and then we spring into action and make things happen.
So why not just make it happen NOW and not wait. Think of it. If you have a 5 year plan and you applied this formula you may be hard pressed to make it all happen but what if by doing this you reduced the time to 2 years.
Chew on that thought. What would that mean to your career, your financial freedom or your personal development if you shortened the time lines? My suggestion is you try it. What do you have to lose? I tell you what you have to lose. NOTHING. Why, because this was work you had committed to doing anyways so all you’re doing is completing your goals in a shorter time period.
Kind of a neat idea don’t you think?
